Ah, the guests of Night after Night. Few folks who watched
the show in it's later incarnations know that Night after Night was not
actually a talk show when it first started. Allan was by himself, and
sometimes with Nick Bakay, during most of the early shows. Then,
someone got the brilliant idea to invite a famous person to be on the
show with Allan. The first Night After Night guest was a man named Gary
Busey.
I don't remember much about Busey's visit to NAN, and, judging from
what I've seen of him since, I'm glad I don't. And, come to think of
it, I believe he appeared on the show right before his famous
helmet-less motorcycle crash. And look where this guy is now! On a
show...on Comedy Central! Hey Busey, you can check out any time you
like, but you can never leave!
Eventually, NAN was considered a late night talk show.
The intimacy that the set provided was unique, and many guests
commented on it.
