Dave the Weatherman

Dave the Weatherman What can one say about Dave the Weatherman? Psychopath? Freak? Well, no matter what, he seemed just a bit off-kilter. Brought in to help give more credibility to Allan's news segment, Dave brought life to many bizzarre moments on the show. His obsession with "fluffy clouds" seems to be the only proof that Dave was indeed a certified weatherman.

Soon after Dave was introduced, Allan brought in another personality, Beth the Weather Girl. Beth was more of a normal weatherperson, but she disappeared under mysterious circumstances that have never been fully explained on the show. Rumor has it that Dave, driven to jealousy by the much more popular Beth, somehow got her dropped from the show. If anyone has any facts that might prove or disprove this rumor, please email me.

Cholesterol Carousel

Back when Comedy Central was still two seperate networks, and even further back when the Comedy Channel was your only source for Joe McDoakes and Supercar reruns, Night After Night had a segment called Cholesterol Carousel. Allan would examine some strange edible concoction like Spotted Dick (it got you out of the army, now it's available in a convenient, take-home size) and Nice Economy rice crackers from Japan. Allan would often try these out, much to the delight (and apparent gross-outitude) of the backstage crew. By the time Night After Night was trimmed down to a one hour show, this little segment was sadly dropped by the wayside, only to be replaced by its lard-laden brother, Donut Friday.

Remote Segments

ice-fishingShortly before the show left the air, Allan went on a series of segments shot outide the studio. Apart from the normal man-on-the-street segments, these clips showed Allan doing things like visiting an elementary school, trying to win at the horse track, getting gussied up at a spa, and checking out the behind the scenes magic at the Radio City Music Hall Christmas Spectacular. This particular clip is from a time when Allan skated at Rockafeller Plaza, and then decided it would be a good idea to go ice-fishing in the middle of the rink.
